ReviewsJoseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat- Troika Entertainment
“…No doubt, Laura Helm‘s Narrator is the glorious winner of the evening as she brings powerhouse vocals and a truly captivating presence to the production for the entire show.” Philadelphia Magazine “Laura Helm (Narrator) ushers us through the ancient byroads of Joseph’s rise and fall and familial reconciliation with elegant grace and smooth serenading vocals.” -Lincoln Journal Star Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat- Mac-Haydn Theatre "Laura Helm as the Narrator uses a gorgeous soprano voice in conjunction with a beautiful face and a stunning body that moves like a dancer’s body should move, to create a most effective character where no character exists. Each appearance of Helm’s life force in this show is much anticipated and even more appreciated. She has lovely music to sing, wonderful dance breaks to show off her torso effectively and a smile that is devastating. In the Laurie Beechman tradition, Helm emerges as the star of a show she narrates. Come and witness the birth of a theatre goddess." -Berkshire Bright Focus Jekyll and Hyde- Touring Theatre Associates LLC "After the leading man, however, my favorite character was Lucy Harris — the prostitute with a heart of gold. Laura Helm made her character fun, and sympathetic. I read that Helm also played Eponine in “Les Miserables,” which made perfect sense as both characters are rejected by the leading man despite being far more interesting than their rivals, sing beautiful ballads and tragically die. It seems unfair, and hopefully Helm can play a role where she gets the guy in the end. Or perhaps not. She’s too good to play the straight man." -Times Reporter Ohio "A standout, certain to earn cheers, is 'In His Eyes,' a duet by LeCrow’s Emma and Helm’s Lucy about the same man, if not the same persona." -Lubbock Avalanche Journal Young Frankenstein- The Mac-Haydn Theatre "Helm's semi-heroine (she is hard to love as she loves herself too much) is a gorgeous vixen devoted to social comeuppance and society's mores. Helm puts into the character a lot more than the author allotted her and the result is a figure of fun nonpareil." -Berkshire Bright Focus All Shook Up- The Mac-Haydn Theatre "Laura Helm, who has been a joy all season, plays the museum director Miss Sandra and her natural sexiness along with her ultra-fine musical talents make this version of Shakespeare’s Olivia a truly desirable, unattainable heroine." -Berkshire Bright Focus Les Miserables- The Mac-Haydn Theatre "Eponine is played by Laura Helm who adds this superb performance of "On My Own" to a growing resume of excellence." -Berkshire Bright Focus 9 to 5- The Mac-Haydn Theatre "...She plays the role perfectly. Ms. Helm's acting, vocals, and dancing are great. I do have to admit that after her song, "Get Out and Stay Out" I wanted to stand up, applaud and give her that well deserved Patti Lupone moment she deserved." -Nathan's Theatre Blog Oliver!- The Mac-Haydn Theatre "...Newcomer Laura Helm just may be the star of the show, though, as Nancy, the belle of the thieves’ den. Helm has a magnetic appeal that works perfectly for the character, who is caught between the thoughts in her head and the feelings in her heart. Helm makes the dysfunctional abuse anthem “As Long As He Needs Me” poignant and powerful, but she also has plenty of fun with the rousing “Oom-Pah-Pah”." -timesunion.com "...Even without costume aid, Laura Helm does a very nice job in that role. Her singing voice is large and strong and well placed and her scene work gave us a very fascinating character." -Berkshire Bright Focus Rocky Horror Picture Show- The Talent Company "Laura Helm, a very recent graduate of the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut, is a major find. Blessed with a silvery soprano, with much strength in the upper register, Helm also turns out to be an effervescent light comedienne. Also a game girl, she transforms Dr. Frank-N- Furter’s pulling off of Janet’s blouse into a revelation. Make that two revelations." -Syracuse New Times Smokey Joe's Cafe- The Mac-Haydn "...Helm’s torchy “Pearl’s a Singer” is haunting and beautiful..." -The Daily Gazette Chicago- Playhouse on Park "...Two young stars-in-the-making caught this reviewer's eye: the reed-thin Spencer Pond and the curvaceous and comely Laura Helm. Keep your eyes out for these two up-and comers." |
